Having seen the reviews on trip advisor I contacted Wye House directly and was lucky to get a late booking for 5 nights.
A really relaxing stay with superb facilties (washing machine, dish washer )cookware, ambience etc.Underground parking was a nice extra.
Very clean with lovely toiletries, decor and lots of space in a beautiful part of Buxton.
I fully agree with other reviewers and am grateful for the advice.
We fully intend returning.

You need to go there to appreciate the quality of the apartments and the wonderful surroundings. The property itself is everything and more than is described. Brilliant lounge area, kitchen and bathrooms are to the highest quality. Recommended for anyone who wants to get away from it all.
2 nights weren't enough gong back there soon! Located 2 mins from shops etc, so if you didn't pack all necessities they are within easy reach...go there and check it out for yourself...great price for a fabulous apartment.

Stayed at the Haddon Suite in Wye House last week with my wife and two children for seven nights. Great experience, super accommodation. My view is this: if you're holidaying as a family, why pay for two hotel rooms or try to cram everyone into one room (even a hotel 'family room') when for a price in-between you can have much more space and comfort. For the Haddon Suite that means two separate bedrooms and bathrooms, a big living room, and all the kitchen and washing facilities you need. Plus you get hotel levels of room servicing.
Of course you could book a top end 'country cottage' for a similar price, but this is luxury living in the middle of town, just a few minutes' walk from the bars and restaurants of Buxton, which is right in the centre of the beautiful Peak District.
For me there were no negatives at all, and manager Rob was extremely helpful. We don't usually go to the same town twice as there are so many places to visit, even in Britain, but I'll definitely think about it for next year, especially as there's so much we didn't get time to see"

Location Description

Situated in an elevated yet sheltered location on Corbar Hill, Wye House has embracing views over Buxton toward the limestone hills of the White Peak and the distant Staffordshire Moorlands.
Set in beautiful private landscaped grounds of 5 ½ acres, Wye House has a sunny south facing aspect and is surrounded by mixed woodland of mature trees.
Looking across and beyond the fascinating architectural features for which Buxton is famed, including the Dome and Georgian Crescent lies Buxton Country Park topped by Grin Low with the folly of Solomon’s Temple as a distant landmark, whilst behind Wye House, Corbar Hill rises up to Corbar Cross on the summit.
Ideally located within a select and peaceful residential area of the town, Wye House is only a two minute walk from the hustle and bustle of this thriving, up-and-coming, cultural capital town of the Peak District. Buxton is not only packed with quality shops and restaurants offering a cosmopolitan choice of cuisine but it also provides manicured parks and serpentine walks, heritage sites, galleries, a museum and even an Edwardian opera house.
On the fringe of the White Peak and Dark Peak of the National Park, Buxton provides excellent transport links through fabulous countryside to all the major towns and cities in the north of England, with railway links to Stockport and Manchester and a frequent and direct bus service to Manchester airport, just an hour or so away.
To stay at Wye House will not only provide you with exclusive accommodation and all the facilities that Buxton has to offer, but it will put you on the threshold of the wonderful Peak District National Park where you can enjoy a whole range of outdoor pursuits from walking and cycling to caving, rock climbing or simply an enjoyable round of golf in breathtakingly beautiful scenery.
To the north of Buxton there are dramatic exposed moors, high crags and deep reservoirs of the High Peak whilst to the south lie the gentler valleys and rich pasture of the Derbyshire Dales with market towns, picture postcard villages and chocolate box pretty cottages as well as the stately homes of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall. Visitor attractions can be found in all directions as well as places to visit and things to do.
With such a stunning location and the ultimate in upmarket accommodation, Wye stay anywhere else?
Our History
The Chateau & Wye House is a complex of modern serviced apartments which were built in the grounds of Corbar Hill House, located on the site of the former greenhouses, nurseries and botanical gardens, in a fabulous arboreal setting surrounded by mature trees and a rich assortment of shrubs and plants with an avenue of topiary trees.
Corbar Hill House was constructed around 1840 at the height of Buxton’s development as a spa town and at a time when it was fashionable to build palatial residences as a sign of wealth and importance. With the concept that the higher up the hill the grander the house, it is not surprising to find Corbar Hill House almost at the top!
Corbar Road was developed as part of Joseph Paxton’s famous Buxton Park with the villa houses on the north side of the road being the most prestigious and well positioned having south facing elevations.
Appearing like a French chateau on a sylvan slope, Corbar Hill House is an architectural gem of perfect symmetry with a selection of classical sash as well as oval windows which have been copied over into the new buildings of Wye House to continue the theme. Several of the finest Victorian buildings in Buxton share similar architectural features and it is fascinating to look across the town to see a selection of domes, turrets, pinnacles, ornate gables and flamboyant finials.
It is believed that the construction of Corbar Hill House was financed by the then Duke of Devonshire, and there is an interesting crest to be found carved in stone above the main door.
Old plans reveal a 6ft beech hedge ran between Corbar Hill House and its kitchen gardens. Over a century later and the hedge may have disappeared but it is still possible to trace its origin in a line of majestic beech trees now reaching some 60-80 feet high. To the rear of the house is an ancient monkey puzzle tree said to be 150 years old that was brought over from Chile by boat as a tiny sapling.
Originally built as a private residence, Corbar Hill House remained a private residence for almost a century until it was used for a time as a Special School. Around 1901 it is thought that Corbar Hill House was renamed Wye House, not to be confused with Wye House Asylum which was a Buxton establishment for the care and treatment of the insane of the higher and middle classes!
Now listed Grade II, Corbar Hill House has been sympathetically restored and brought back to life with careful consideration to detail and using quality materials which are locally sourced as much as possible. Corbar Hill House has been fitted with super insulation, low energy fitments and under floor heating to make it as environmentally friendly and energy efficient as it is possible to be.
Taking advice and guidance from conservationists and planners, Corbar Hill House was restored to such a high standard that it is above and beyond any normal renovation project. Several of Buxton’s large 19th century buildings have disappeared through demolition and some are currently under threat due to lack of general maintenance, dry rot infestation, damp and decay, but Corbar Hill House is a survivor having been rescued from the brink of oblivion and is now facing a much happier long-term future.
Why We Are Different
Way back in 78AD the Romans came to Buxton to discover liquid gold in the form of thermal waters, naming the town Aquae Arnametiae. St Anne’s Well is still flowing, with Buxton water being on tap in the majority of Buxton Hotels.
